Alan T. Rogers is a partner in the Birmingham office and member of the Litigation Section. Alan has substantial experience presenting cases to juries, judges, arbitrators, administrative bodies and appellate courts. His cases have involved companies and professionals in many industries, including energy, manufacturing, commercial insurance and financial services. Alan has handled disputes involving shareholders, directors, corporate officers, commercial arrangements, regulatory governance, accidents involving personal injury and property damage, and other issues. He is Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is a certified mediator and has mediated cases for 20 years. Recognized for his ability to help businesses solve challenging problems and prevent disputes before they get to court, Alan also brings to the courtroom significant experience in advocacy and litigation.

Alan previously served as Balch’s managing partner from 2007 – 2015. During his tenure, he was responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the firm and serving as chair of its Executive Committee. He was instrumental in strengthening Balch's national reputation for excellence and enhancing its overall performance. Under his leadership, Balch achieved significant recognition – from Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America and Benchmark Litigation, as well as various industry publications – for its work, client service and expertise.

During Mr. Rogers’ leadership, the firm developed a two-day seminar for law students who represent minority and underrepresented groups from across the Southeast. The seminar helps participants understand the legal profession and the careers available to law school graduates. It equips students with tools needed for success during and after law school and encourages diversity in the legal profession. The seminar is hosted annually by Balch and includes students from law schools across the Southeast.

Prior to serving as managing partner, Mr. Rogers was chair of Balch’s Litigation Section for 12 years. During that time, the firm established its own trial training program that continues today, ensuring that trial experience is complimented with internal training by the firm in the skills required of effective courtroom lawyers. Litigation associates annually engage in trial simulations with juries and outside judges. Partners participate as witnesses and instructors.
