Credit Crisis/Subprime Mortgage Crisis Group
Attorneys in Balch & Bingham’s Credit Crisis Group help clients address the challenges created by current disruptions in the credit and other capital markets. Although the problems may have begun in the subprime mortgage market, they have expanded into many other areas such as the public finance markets and the housing construction finance market.
The group is composed of attorneys from a variety of disciplines necessary to manage the legal risks that are emerging, including:
-
litigation, including class action litigation, with home mortgage borrowers arising out of home mortgage underwriting, servicing and the entire subprime litigation wave;
-
bankruptcy and insolvency claims and restructurings arising from credit transaction defaults;
-
internal investigations into claims, and litigation arising from claims, that proper procedures were not followed for the underwriting of mortgages and other instruments underlying defaulted securities;
-
director and officer litigation;
-
litigation arising from allegations that credit-related risks in securities offerings were not properly disclosed; and
-
regulatory actions by banking supervisors and securities regulators.
Attorneys in the Credit Crisis Group are located in all of the firm’s offices in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and the District of Columbia.
