Since our inception over 80 years ago, Balch & Bingham LLP has been involved in politics, government relations and lobbying. The relationships we have developed with Members of Congress and Administration officials over the years have served our clients well. We have also been fortunate in the committee assignments that those Members hold as well as the positions in the Administration to which others were assigned or appointed.

While the Firm maintains its greatest presence in the Southeastern United States, our political activism and involvement are far-reaching and national in scope. Because our legal clientele have historically been largely electric utilities and financial institutions, we have solidified relationships with key members of Congress from across the country. While remaining regionally based, we work with a national focus.

Balch & Bingham LLP’s Federal Governmental Relations Group is a specialized practice area providing traditional lobbying advocacy and political consulting services, regarding federal matters, including the Congress, the Executive Branch, and various federal, regional, and state agencies.

These services encompass drafting legislation and supporting documents, handling authorization and appropriations legislation, developing and implementing strategies for effecting legislation and regulations, coalition building, and electronic and print media public relations consulting. The Firm has extensive experience and has achieved success, assisting our clients in many areas including utility, banking, financial services, transportation, appropriations, defense, homeland security, economic and community development, environmental and educational issues, healthcare, technology and research, biotechnology, aerospace, international trade, insurance, and unique issue advocacy.
