JUDD HARWOOD is an associate in the firm’s Health Law and Corporate & Securities Practice Groups. Mr. Harwood’s practice focuses on healthcare regulatory compliance and the representation of hospitals and other healthcare entities in connection with mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other transactions matters. Mr. Harwood has additionally advised healthcare entities on a broad range of state and local, federal, and international tax issues, as well as issues relating to non-profit and tax-exempt organizations.

SUBSTANTIAL MATTERS

    • Represented HealthSouth Corporation in the sale of its diagnostic division to The Gores Group.
    • Represented HealthSouth Corporation in its sale of a 74-bed rehabilitation hospital and outpatient center, a stand alone rehabilitation facility and an occupational medicine rehabilitation therapy business located in Melbourne Australia.
    • Represented a regional healthcare system in structuring and negotiating several physician-hospital joint ventures.
    • Assisted a physician-owned hospital in connection with investigations related to alleged health care fraud and abuse arising under anti-kickback, physician self-referral, false claims, and other federal and state health care laws and regulations.
    • Advised one of the nations leading healthcare providers in connection with a comprehensive healthcare compliance review of its ambulatory surgery centers, independent diagnostic testing facilities and in-patient rehabilitation hospitals.
