Labor Relations

Balch & Bingham’s attorneys have handled labor relations matters for clients throughout the United States, including some of the nation’s largest employers. We represent employers across the full spectrum of industries, from food processing and construction to health care and nuclear power. For non-union clients, we provide legal and practical advice and representation in union organizing campaigns and elections. Our work in this area has involved not only traditional NLRB elections, but also the development of comprehensive and effective programs for addressing salting efforts and corporate campaigns. We also defend our clients in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and courts.

We represent unionized employers in arbitrations, provide legal and practical guidance in the administration of collective bargaining agreements, assist them in negotiating contracts, prepare strike and picketing contingency plans, and help develop effective bargaining strategies. We represent clients before the NLRB on unfair labor practice charges and in courts when they need to take action or defend themselves against claims under section 301 and other statutes. We also advise clients on the labor implications of mergers and acquisitions.
