Balch & Bingham LLP today announced that the firm will host its Annual Labor & Employment Conference on Oct. 16 and 17, 2014, in Biloxi, Miss., and on Oct. 30 and 31, 2014, in Birmingham, Ala., to provide employers and in-house counsel with practical insight on emerging trends and issues in labor and employment law and actionable strategies to address issues including employee benefits, the Affordable Care Act and immigration compliance.

Balch attorneys will be joined by in-house counsel, medical and HR professionals, and representatives from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to provide counsel on all aspects of Labor & Employment law in a way that benefits both employers and their employees.

Birmingham seminar topics will include What ACA Employer Obligations Will Be Enforced, When?; Employee Benefit Plan Developments That Impact Your Employees; and The NLRB’s Attack on Your Employment Policies – From Confidentiality to Dress Code, in addition to seminars covering privilege and litigation hold issues for employers; transgender and gender identify issues; and a panel discussion with NLRB and EEOC representatives.

Additional workshop topics will include investigating and documenting termination, whistleblower and retaliation claims, employee benefit plan developments, vendor and contractor immigration compliance, pre-dispute employment arbitration agreements, telemedicine, NLRB’s effect on employment policies, background checks in employment decisions, and attorney roundtables.
