M. Jefferson Starling III and Tashwanda Pinchback Dixon Co-Authored Article with Kevin Pearson of Georgia Power Company for DRI’s For the Defense Publication Regarding Utilities’ Concerns over ADA-Compliant Website

M. Jefferson Starling III, partner in the firm’s Birmingham, Ala. office and chair of the Labor & Employment Section, Tashwanda Pinchback Dixon, associate in the firm’s Atlanta office and member of the Labor & Employment Section, and Kevin Pearson, Managing Attorney at Georgia Power Company, authored an article for the May issue of the DRI’s For the Defense publication regarding utilities’ obligations to ensure their websites are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In the article, Starling, Dixon, and Pearson wrote about legal action and threatened lawsuits toward utility companies alleging their websites were not accessible to disabled individuals and were in violation of the ADA. The attorneys discussed responses to these letters, as well as various factors that affect companies’ obligations to have ADA-compliant websites.
