Michael P. Taunton Authored Case Summaries for the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel
Michael P. Taunton, associate in the firm’s Birmingham, Ala., office and member of the Litigation Section, authored case summaries for the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC)’s “Hot Cases” blog in June 2016. The section features case summaries on recent cases of interest to the defense community. Mr. Taunton submitted a recent decision of the Alabama Supreme Court which allowed legal malpractice claims to be pursued after death when claims are based on contract, a decision of the Florida Court of Appeals ruling that Florida’s new expert testimony standards should be applied retroactively to pending cases, and a decision of the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals ruling that an employee injured on her way home from work was acting within the “scope of employment” for purposes of workers’ compensation benefits. The FDCC is comprised of defense lawyers and recognized leaders in the legal community.
