Alex Flachsbart Authored Article for The Alabama Municipal Journal Regarding Incentivizing Commercial Development
Alex Flachsbart, attorney in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Public Finance and Economic Development Incentives practice areas, authored an article entitled “Structuring and Incentivizing Commercial Development: A Framework for Bringing Vision to Reality,” for The Alabama Municipal Journal, a publication of the Alabama League of Municipalities. It appears in the September / October issue. In the article, Mr. Flachsbart explained how to design incentives to attract commercial developers, the ins and outs of performing cost-benefit analysis for a project, and the tools available for retail development in Alabama (with a particular focus on Amendment 772). Mr. Flachsbart counsels governments, nonprofit corporations and private developers on how to incentivize and finance community development using bonds, grants, revolving loan funds, tax credits and other incentives.
