What previous experiences, prior to your work at Balch, influence your practice?
Prior to becoming a lawyer, I was a high school math teacher in Lowndes County, Alabama through Teach For America. Teaching was the hardest job I have ever had and through it I developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the importance of advocacy. Being in a rural area, I was in awe of the strong community surrounding my students. It has served as a great reminder to me that, no matter what field I work in, I have a role in supporting and improving the education systems in my community.
