- Financial Services Litigation:
A significant portion of my practice is focused on mortgage servicer and lender liability litigation, including claims arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
- Employment Litigation:
I frequently defend large and small employers, as well as state agencies and educational institutions, against allegations made under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 1981 and § 1983, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as workers’ compensation actions and claims of retaliatory discharge under Ala. Code § 25-5-11.1.
- Government and Education:
I represent businesses, state agencies, and educational institutions with a variety of administrative and litigated matters involving the federal and state governments, including disputes arising under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and appeals of decisions made by administrative agencies. I also advise municipalities with various aspects of municipal government, and have served as a municipal prosecutor since 2014.
- Personal Injury and Property Disputes:
I represent manufacturers, trucking and transportation companies, electrical utilities, retailers, and other businesses in actions alleging personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage, including products liability, trespass, negligence/wantonness, and premises liability claims.
- Intellectual Property:
I have represented businesses of all sizes with prosecuting and defending intellectual property disputes, including claims alleging trademark infringement, unfair competition, and deceptive trade practices.
