Services to Title Insurance and Real Estate Information Industry

A number of our attorneys focus significant portions of their practice on providing services to the title insurance and real estate information industry in connection with coverage issues, claims evaluation and litigation, curative title work, defense of first-party and third-party actions, subrogation, flood zone and other certifications, and agency issues. In addition to litigating cases in the federal and state courts in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi, as well as before arbitration tribunals, our attorneys have been retained to file amicus curiae briefs on behalf of the American Land Title Association and the Alabama Land Title Association.

    • Multi-state water rights litigation involving the States of Alabama, Florida and Georgia, the United States Army Corp of Engineers, and local Alabama and Georgia water users in both the Alabama, Coosa, Tallapoosa Basin and the Appalachicola, Chattahoochee, Flint Basin.
    • Defense of multiple flood damage claims by landowners in six Alabama counties downstream from Tallapoosa River hydroelectric projects.
    • Representation of a dozen different title insurers in hundreds of separate disputes over title coverage or defense of title.
    • Representation of universities both as condemning authorities for educational purposes and as landowners.
    • Representation of the Alabama Land Title Association, as amicus curiae, in an appeal before the Supreme Court of Alabama involving local fire district foreclosure deeds.
