STEVEN R. PARKER is an Associate in the Birmingham office and he is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group. Steven’s practice involves complex commercial litigation including real estate litigation, casualty and products liability matters, intellectual property disputes, covenant not to compete enforcement, pharmaceuticals and other general litigation matters. Steven has represented banks, accounting firms, insurance companies, title insurers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, utility companies, corporations and individuals.
As a member of the firm's Real Estate Litigation practice group, Steven represents commercial and private property owners, banks and title insurers in real estate and real property litigation involving encroachment, easement, eminent domain, condemnation, boundary, quiet title, and trespass disputes. Steven’s intellectual property practice has included defending copyright infringement as well as actions involving departing employees who allegedly have taken proprietary information or who may have started working for a competitor allegedly in violation of an employment contract. Steven has also participated on the litigation team defending clients in antitrust matters
Steven was born and reared in California and lived in North Carolina prior to coming to Alabama. He received his undergraduate degree from California State University, Northridge and his law degree from North Carolina Central University. Steven is an adjunct faculty member at Samford University, where he teaches a class in trial advocacy and coaches the Samford University Mock Trial Team.

- Represent title insurer in claim to void mortgage as violative of Alabama homestead law.
- Defended national restaurant franchise company in slip-and-fall case.
- Participated in litigation team that obtained arbitration award in breach of contract case against subcontractor and initiated judgment enforcement actions against foreign defendant.
- Negotiated successful resolution of boundary and easement dispute between residents and insured bank.
- Negotiated successful resolution of product liability disputes between retailer in individual.
- Negotiated successful resolution of property damage claim against utility company resulting in a dismissal of the complaint.

PRIOR EMPLOYMENT
Steven’s prior work experience includes working as Political Director for the No on Proposition 38 Campaign in California, where he lobbied to gain the support of elected officials and key stakeholders, and oversaw the campaign’s field operations in Los Angeles County. Previously, he As Southern California Outreach Coordinator for the California Complete Count Campaign, Steven coordinated the distribution of $1.6 million in state funds to a regional consortium of over 90 organizations charged with conducting an accurate and complete count of all Californians in the 2000 census. Steven also served as a Community Affairs Manager for Los Angeles Mayor Richard J. Riordan, where he managed projects in community, business, and local government outreach, which included special event planning, community problem solving and representing the Mayor in liaison activities. As a Field Representative for State Senator Herschel Rosenthal, Steven represented the Senator to residential, non-profit, business and religious communities in the San Fernando Valley. Prior to joining Senator Rosenthal’s staff, Steven was selected from a national pool of applicants as a California State Senate Fellow. He was assigned to the Senate Insurance Committee where he staffed legislation and produced bill analyses for the committee.
