WILLIAM S. WRIGHT is a Partner of in the Firm's Real Estate and Commercial Transactions Practice Group. His work includes consultation with and legal representation of developers, municipalities, financial institutions, and other business organizations in real estate, financing, commercial, land use, leasing, construction, acquisition, contractual, development, organizational and other transactions and matters.

He is active in the promotion of the SmartCode, a model land use development and zoning ordinance that enables and encourages Smart Growth and New Urbanist development. Bill is a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism and the Land Use, Planning and Zoning Committee of the ABA’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Section.

He was selected to work with the Mississippi Renewal Forum organized by the Governor’s Commission and the CNU for the redevelopment of the post-Katrina Gulf Coast and has worked on a number of New Urbanist development and SmartCode matters for developers and municipalities.

Bill, along with Andres Duany and others, is a co-author of the SmartCode Manual, a commentary and annotated guide to the adoption, customization and implementation of the SmartCode.

He has been a speaker for the SmartCode Workshop, a semi-annual seminar presented at locations throughout the country, has spoken on legal issues involved in Smart Growth development at the Land Development Conference, a national gathering of real estate developers, has been a presenter for seminars sponsored by The Seaside Institute on Advanced Techniques in New Urbanist Development, and had participated as a presenter, facilitator and juror for sessions related to land use and codes for the CNU.
