The Facts and Fictions of Amicus Curiae Practice in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals

This article analyzes quantitative data from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit to provide insight and guidance on how that court and others view amici curiae generally and explores the various reasons that courts may deny amici participation.  The article concludes with recommendations for court practices that would streamline consideration of the views of amici curiae and make their participation more meaningful.
