FERC Approves Violation Risk Factors for CIP Reliability Standards

On January 27, 2009, FERC issued an order approving 12 revised Violation Risk Factors (VRFs) and nine new VRFs related to certain Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Reliability Standards that were submitted to NERC.  In addition, FERC directed NERC to assign four of the CIP Sub-Requirements a “medium” VRF rather than a “lower” VRF, as originally proposed by NERC.  To view FERC’s order, click here.
