FERC Issues NOPR Seeking Comments on Six MOD Reliability Standards

On March 19, 2009, FERC issued a NOPR seeking comments on six Modeling, Data, and Analysis (MOD) Reliability Standards submitted by NERC for Commission approval.  Generally, the proposed Reliability Standards pertain to methodologies for the consistent and transparent calculation of available transfer capability (ATC) or available flowgate capability.  In the NOPR, the Commission proposes to approve the Reliability Standards filed by NERC in this proceeding because the Commission believes that they will enhance transparency in the calculation of ATC by requiring transmission operators and transmission service providers to calculate ATC using a specific methodology that is both explicitly documented and available to reliability entities who request it.   To view the Commission’s NOPR, click here.
