NERC Submits Revised VRF and VSL Guidelines

On August 10, 2009, NERC submitted to FERC an informational filing setting forth a summary of revised guidelines it intends to use in determining the assignment of Violation Risk Factors (VRFs) and Violation Severity Levels (VSLs) for NERC Reliability Standards.  NERC explains that it is not requesting FERC approval of these guidelines but, instead, is making the filing to report on the actions NERC has taken in response to the discussions in Order No. 722 regarding the development of “ a new and comprehensive approach that would better facilitate the assignment of [VSLs] and [VRFs].”  To view NERC’s informational filing, click here.
