NERC Submits First Spreadsheet NOP Filing

On September 30, 2011, in Docket No. NP11-270, NERC filed some NOPs in the new “spreadsheet NOP” format.  This was part of NERC’s concurrent filing of its streamlined compliance enforcement process, involving: (1) the traditional “full Notices of Penalty (NOPs)” for possible violations posing serious risk to reliability; (2) find, fix, track and report (“FFT”) spreadsheet filings for possible violations posing lesser risk to reliability; and (3) “spreadsheet NOPS” for violations whose moderate risk to reliability falls in between the risks posed for possible violations eligible for the previous two tracks. NERC requested that FERC take action on the Spreadsheet NOP format and the specific “spreadsheet NOP” violations themselves.  No further action has been taken.
