FERC Issues Order Approving Reliability Standard

On May 31, 2012 in Docket RD12-1, FERC issued an order in which it approved Regional Reliability Standard IRO-006-TRE-1, associated Violation Risk Factors and Violation Severity Levels, and the implementation plan. This standard will provide and execute transmission loading relief procedures that can be used to avoid and mitigate exceedences of the System Operating Limits (“SOL”) or Interconnection Reliability Operating Limits (“IROL”) for the purpose of maintaining the reliable operation of the bulk electric system in the ERCOT region. Additionally, the standard will provide enforceable requirements to support the NERC standard IRO-006-5 (Transmission Loading Relief) in the ERCOT Region. NERC submitted a petition for approval of Regional Reliability Standard IRO-006-TRE-1 on February 1, 2012.
