NRC Releases Regulatory Issue Summary Related to Current Operating Issues and Licensing Actions in License Renewal

The NRC has issued a regulatory issue summary, RIS 2014-06 (dated May 5, 2014), “Consideration of Current Operating Issues and Licensing Actions in License Renewal,” to provide information to applicants and licensees on how the NRC considers current operation of the facility in the license renewal review under 10 CFR Part 54, “Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants.  This RIS requires no action or written response on the part of an addressee.

The RIS is intended to be useful to applicants and licensees in developing and implementing operational programs in a manner which facilitates eventual license renewal.  The RIS specifically discusses issues affecting the scope of license renewal as well as issues affecting the content of an aging management program.
