The NRC is seeking public comments on a draft regulatory issue summary, RIS 2014-XX, “Oversight of Counterfeit, Fraudulent, and Suspect Items in the Nuclear Industry.” The draft RIS is intended to clarify existing regulations regarding the nuclear industry’s oversight of counterfeit, fraudulent, and suspect items (CFSI). The final RIS will explain licensees’ and certificate holders’ obligations to prevent CFSI from entering their supply chains or being installed at their facilities, and their reporting requirements should they discover CFSI. The final RIS will also set out the actions that the NRC intends to take to prevent and detect CFSI from being utilized in nuclear facilities. Comments on the draft RIS are due by November 3, 2014.
