NRC Renews Dry Cask Storage Facility License at Calvert Cliffs
- Filter By Nuclear Update Blog
The NRC has issued a 40-year renewed license for the dry cask storage facility for spent nuclear fuel at Calvert Cliffs. Exelon applied for the license renewal in 2010; the new license is set to expire in 2052. Exelon’s license requires periodic inspections of casks and components to ensure that any issues related to aging are detected and remedied in a timely fashion. This is the fifth renewed license the NRC has issued for a dry cask storage facility.
