FERC Approves Reliability Standards FAC-001-2, FAC-002-2

On November 6, 2014, in Docket No. RD14-12, FERC issued a letter order approving NERC’s proposed Reliability Standards FAC-001-2, Facility Interconnection Requirements, and FAC-002-2, Facility Interconnection Studies.  NERC submitted the two standards for approval on August 22, 2014.  FAC-001-2 requires transmission owners and certain generators to make their facility interconnection requirements available to entities seeking to interconnect, and FAC-002-2 requires that the reliability impacts of interconnections are studied.  The new standards replace existing Reliability Standards FAC-001-1 and FAC-002-1.  FERC’s letter order also approved NERC’s Implementation Plan and Violation Risk Factors and Violation Security Levels.
