NRC Issues Proposed Fee Schedule for FY 2017

The NRC has issued a proposed rule for the revision of fee schedules for fiscal year (FY) 2017. The proposed fee schedules are based on the NRC’s FY 2017 Congressional Budget Justification in the amount $952.1 million, a decrease of $50 million from FY 2016. The NRC is proposing to adjust its hourly rate for services provided by the NRC from $265 an hour to $267 an hour. The proposed fee schedule would see the NRC collect about $324 million through hourly fees under 10 CFR Part 170 and about $508 million through annual fees under Part 171, a 2.4% and 7.6% decrease in fee collections respectively from FY 2016. The proposed annual fee for power reactors for FY 2017 is $4,318,000 per reactor. Additionally, each licensed power reactor is assessed a spent fuel storage/reactor decommissioning annual fee of $194,000, resulting in a combined annual fee of $4,512,000 per reactor.
