President Trump Nominates Three NRC Commissioners

President Trump has renominated Kristine Svinicki to be chair of the NRC and put forward the names of two new commissioners.  Chairman Svinicki was designated as the NRC chair by President Trump earlier this year, but her term was set to expire on June 30. President Trump’s renomination would place Chairman Svinicki into a five-year term, ending June 30, 2022.  Additionally, President Trump announced his intent to nominate two other commissioners, Annie Caputo and David Wright. Caputo, a former Exelon Corp. executive, currently serves as the majority senior policy adviser on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.  She has also been a staffer for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.  Wright previously served as a state legislator and chairman of the South Carolina Public Service Commission.  He is currently president of Wright Directions, LLC, an energy consulting and communications firm. If confirmed by the Senate, these nominations will bring the NRC back to full capacity.  Jeff Baran and Stephen Burns are the other current commissioners.
