Marcus R. Chatterton, attorney in the firm’s Birmingham, Ala., office and member of the Litigation Section, authored an article for Inside Counsel on May 20, 2015, regarding the need for businesses to keep a keen eye on the way their intellectual property and brands are discussed on social media. The article was entitled “Protecting Your Brand from Inactive Accounts and Eroding Trademark Rights,” and is the second authored article in Mr. Chatterton’s two-part series for Inside Counsel on businesses’ social media practices. Throughout the article, Mr. Chatterton provided advice on best practices regarding eroding trademark rights and discussed problems encountered with inactive accounts.
