Lucien Smith, partner in the firm's Jackson, Miss., office and a member of the Governmental Relations Section, was quoted by the Mississippi Business Journal on March 10, 2016, regarding the battle of control over the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport and Hawkins Field in Jackson, Miss. Mr. Smith commented on the likely trajectory of the legislation, which would transfer control of the airport to a state-created board, as well as the role of a reverse repealer in the legislation. Prior to joining Balch's Governmental Relations Section in 2016, Mr. Smith served as chief of staff to Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant.
