Jessica Nwokocha, attorney in the firm’s Atlanta office and member of the Litigation Practice, recently served as a panelist for the 5th Annual Vanderbilt Black Law Students Association Women’s Empowerment Brunch on April 8, 2017, in Nashville, Tennessee. Jessica co-launched the event during her second year as a student at Vanderbilt Law School, while serving as BLSA’s Academic Excellence Chair. The brunch is now in its fifth year and is a staple of BLSA’s event curriculum. Balch proudly served as a sponsor of the brunch, which is geared toward supporting, uplifting and empowering Vanderbilt’s diverse community of law students. Featured panelists included minority women attorneys from various stages and areas of practice who discussed topics such as how to excel in law school, interviewing and networking tips, and overcoming adversity as a diverse lawyer. The event provided a unique opportunity for students to ask thoughtful questions in an open forum.
