Chris Kimble Forecasted 2018 Healthcare Trends in Birmingham Business Journal

Chris Kimble, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and chair of the Healthcare Litigation Practice, shared insights regarding trends and issues impacting the healthcare industry with the Birmingham Business Journal on January 4, 2018. Chris discussed a potential effort that could be made by the Trump administration to switch to a block grant funding mechanism for Medicaid. If the funding is granted in a block, experts expect a strain on health systems and hospitals statewide. He also shared insights on an influx of regulations and, potentially, federal money that could re-shape the behavioral health/substance abuse treatment industry. The potential flood of federal dollars to combat the opioid crisis could double the size of an industry that has never received federal reimbursement to a significant degree.

Chris works closely with health systems across the Southeast in response to litigation of healthcare-related issues. He is actively involved in the health law community, serving as past president of the Alabama State Bar Health Law Section and in the leadership of the American Health Lawyers Association. He has been named to the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Healthcare” list for three consecutive years.
