Jason Tompkins Named Co-Chair of American Bar Association Consumer Litigation Committee

Balch & Bingham LLP is pleased to announce that Jason Tompkins, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Litigation Practice, has been named co-chair of the Consumer Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Litigation, the premier association for lawyers involved in trial practice.

“In Jason, the American Bar Association has selected a proven litigator and an excellent leader to co-chair its Consumer Litigation Committee,” said Russ Campbell, chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice. “Our firm is proud of the opportunity to join the ABA in recognizing Jason’s reputation for excellence, and we look forward to his leadership over the coming year."

The committee is comprised of litigators who focus their practice on the rights of consumers and on issues relevant to businesses whose operations implicate or are impacted by the statutory and common-law rights of consumers. In addition to developments affecting consumer rights law, the committee provides resources and networking opportunities for lawyers. The committee is part of the ABA’s Section of Litigation, which is the largest ABA section.

Jason focuses on consumer litigation defense of individual and class action lawsuits at both the trial and appellate levels. He acts as regional and national counsel for several financial services clients who trust him to coordinate defense strategy across numerous jurisdictions. In the past three years, Jason has been lead counsel on hundreds of individual and class action lawsuits involving claims under the FDCPA, FCRA, and TCPA.
