April D. Wise, partner in the firm’s Montgomery office and member of the Estate Planning & Trusts Practice, recently presented to the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services on special needs planning tools. The presentation took place on November 6, 2018, and aimed to equip parents of children with special needs, both adults and minors, in understanding public benefits, special needs trusts, ABLE Accounts, and Guardianships.
“Special needs planning for a loved one works to maximize that individual’s quality of life by providing support and protecting them only as much as necessary in an effort to not limit or restrict their potential,” said April. “It was an honor to spend time with these parents and to support them as they continue to provide for their children.”
In addition to special needs and settlement planning, April’s legal practice focuses on estate and tax planning as well as estate and trust administration and litigation. April regularly represents trustees, executors, and other fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and professionals. She is a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners.
