Balch Attorneys to Present at Alabama Construction Law Summit

Attorneys from Balch’s Construction and Litigation Practices will speak at the Fifth Annual Construction Law Summit presented by the Construction Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. The summit will cover topics affecting the construction sector, ranging from litigation risks and contract disputes, to personnel matters and cyber threats. The event will be held on December 4, 2018, in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
Conrad Anderson IV, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Construction and Litigation Practices, will present on “Alternative Dispute Resolution: How To (And How Not To).” Conrad recently co-authored the Alabama Construction Law Manual, the state’s first treatise on legal issues affecting the construction industry to be published in more than a decade. He regularly litigates a variety of construction disputes, representing owners, contractors, and subcontractors in matters ranging from contract negotiation and payment disputes to building defects and premises liability claims.
 
Kelly Pate, partner in the firm’s Montgomery office and member of the Litigation and Labor & Employment Practices, and Martha Thompson, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Litigation Practice, will present on “Harassment, Discrimination and #MeToo.” Kelly and Martha are both members of Balch’s #MeToo task force, which brings together a multi-disciplinary group of attorneys who advise employers on harassment-related matters. The team’s deep experience in labor and employment compliance, employment litigation, and investigation response is combined with industry-specific insights to offer fully integrated counsel to businesses.
