Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce the addition of Craig D. Lawrence Jr. as a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Practice.
Craig represents banks and developers in ground-up real estate development projects, which includes acquisition, leasing and development. He also represents high-growth technology companies in formation, vendor management, and exit transactions. Prior to practicing law, Craig built and led his own small business, served as assistant vice president in the retail and small businesses division of a regional bank, and was a consultant to the Alabama Small Business Development Network, a statewide network helping to enhance economic growth throughout Alabama through small business.
"Balch is excited to welcome Craig to our dynamic Real Estate Practice,” said Stan Blanton, managing partner. “Craig is an experienced attorney, and his deep roots in Alabama’s small business community will provide our clients with a unique perspective"
Craig is a member of the Project Corporate Leadership Class of 2019, a program that identifies upwardly mobile managers and professionals in the Birmingham region in order to provide learning experiences that will improve business skills, enhance career progress, increase awareness of the importance of diversity, and support service to the community. Craig currently serves as a member of Project Corporate Leadership’s Board of Directors.
Craig received his J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law, his MBA from Samford University Brock School of Business and his bachelor’s degree from The University of Alabama.
"I am thrilled to join the brilliant team of attorneys at Balch & Bingham,” said Craig. “The strength and depth of the firm’s practice will be an immense asset to my real estate and tech clients as they take on more and more sophisticated transactions."
Craig’s arrival follows the firm’s recent addition of Patrick Krechowski, who joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice in Jacksonville, Fla., in March. Patrick’s practice includes significant work in the areas of urban development and repurposing of vacant commercial spaces as clients are looking for innovative ways to bring new development to life.
Balch’s Real Estate Practice in Alabama was recently recognized in Chambers USA, 2020 edition and earned a Tier One Metropolitan ranking from U.S. News – Best Lawyers® 2020 “Best Law Firms.”
