Stephen McKitt, attorney in the Birmingham office and member of the Creditors Rights and Bankruptcy Practice, participated in The University of Alabama School of Law’s virtual event, “Diversity Matters Open House.”
The event, which promotes the university’s commitment to diversity to prospective students, brought together law school leadership, faculty, staff and alumni to discuss important topics relevant to those interested in pursuing legal careers. Participants were invited to partake in a virtual tour of the law school campus, observe a mock law school class and attend informational sessions on applying to law school, an introduction to legal careers and a Q&A alumni panel.
Stephen joined other UA Law alumni for the panel discussion to answer questions submitted by the prospective students. Stephen shared advice on how to prepare for the transition to law school and encouraged students to seek opportunities while in school to explore different areas of law.
Stephen devotes his practice to bankruptcy and creditors rights. His practice often involves both complex litigation and transactional work in bankruptcy cases. Stephen represents a variety utility companies and ﬁnancial institutions. Prior to joining Balch, Stephen worked for the Department of Justice as a trial attorney and as an in-house attorney at one of the world's largest banks.
