American Health Law Association's Health Law Weekly Publishes Article Co-Authored by Shalyn McKitt

Published by the American Health Lawyers Association’s (AHLA) Health Law Weekly on June 23 2021, Balch & Bingham’s Shalyn McKitt, attorney in the Litigation Practice, co-authored the article “Ramping Up For Surveys, Audits and Investigations: What to Expect from State and Federal Regulators after COVID-19” along with Balch Summer Associates John Wilson Booth and Caroline Toman. The article provided updates on reopening with regard to state and federal survey protocol.

In the article, Shalyn, John Wilson and Caroline address how state survey agencies and HHS slowed down non-emergency survey and audit procedures of hospitals and care facilities and discussed how and when the surveys will begin again. The trio also provided practical takeaways on how health systems should prepare in light of regulatory changes that have occurred over the course of the past year.
