Balch & Bingham’s Shalyn McKitt, attorney in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Litigation Practice, has been appointed Vice Chair of the DRI's Young Lawyers Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee. Each member of the committee will serve a one year term.
The Young Lawyers Committee (YLC) exists to equip young lawyers with exceptional professional development, CLE programs and networking opportunities. Members of the Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee of the YLC are responsible for authoring an article on a diversity related topic and securing a diverse female speaker for the Women in the Law Diversity Luncheon at the YL Seminar. The steering committee is comprised of individuals with a genuine interest in diversity and inclusion who would like to help further diverse initiatives in the legal profession.
Shalyn McKitt is an experienced litigator with a diverse background representing clients in health law, employment law, governmental affairs and administrative law and regulatory matters.
Prior to joining Balch, Shalyn served as assistant attorney general for the State of Ohio in the Health and Human Services Section, assistant regional counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services - Region VI and senior legal counsel for a healthcare technology company. She gained extensive courtroom experience with complex healthcare issues during her tenure with the government.
