What previous experiences, prior to your work at Balch, influence your practice?

Prior to joining Balch, I spent three years clerking for United States Magistrate Judge John C. Gargiulo. During my clerkship, I worked on a wide variety of civil discovery matters, appeals from the Social Security Administration, and dispositive motions in Section 1983 litigation. During this time, I learned the importance of thorough research and the benefit of a well-written, persuasive brief. Additionally, I was able to observe the demeanor and advocacy skills of a number of attorneys in the courtroom and other conferences with the Court, which has given me insight into what strategies best serve my clients.
What do you find most exciting about your work?

I enjoy working with clients and taking their complex legal questions and, if the issue reaches litigation, presenting the Court and the opposing side a well-reasoned, practical argument that works for our client’s best interests.
