H. HAMPTON BOLES is a Partner of Balch & Bingham LLP. Mr. Boles serves as General Counsel to the Alabama Bankers Association and to the Birmingham Automobile Dealers Association. His practice consists primarily of advising banks and other creditors, insurance companies and real estate developers in corporate, financial and regulatory matters. He also is a member of the firm's Credit Crisis Group, a special team of lawyers working on challenges created by the current disruptions in the credit and other capital markets. Regulatory - regularly practices before the Alabama Banking Department and the Alabama Department of Insurance regarding a wide range of regulatory and enforcement matters including compliance, filings and approvals.
Corporate and Transactional -works closely with the firm's bank, insurance company and insurance agency clients regarding organizational structure, financing from both a borrower and a creditor standpoint, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and acquisitions.
Legislative - Since 1985, Mr. Boles has drafted or participated in drafting substantial portions of the current Alabama Banking Code. He examines and advises a variety of clients regarding proposed state legislation and proposed state agency regulations and rules. He describes the effect of proposed legislation and regulations upon various industries, prepares and offers corrective amendments, drafts proposed legislation, and formulates industry and client positions with respect to legislation and regulations.
Mr. Boles is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and has served on the Alabama Law Institute UCC Articles 2A, 3, 4, 4A and Revised Article 9 Committees. He has been a frequent speaker at seminars.
