Raine Cook Explores Common Challenges for First-Year Associates in ABA Podcast

Raine Cook, attorney in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of Balch’s Corporate & Commercial Practice, is featured in an American Bar Association (ABA) podcast where she discusses common hurdles faced by first-year attorneys and offers guidance on how to navigate them successfully.

Raine’s podcast, titled “There’s A First for Everything: Advice on Being A First-Generation First-Year Associate,” offers advice tailored to new attorneys on a variety of topics including, managing the unknown, overcoming imposter syndrome and the importance of finding a support group. 

At Balch, Raine’s practice focuses on a wide variety of corporate matters. She represents clients through all phases of commercial transactions—from entity formation, day-to-day corporate matters, and eventual dissolution. In addition to her general corporate practice, Raine advises clients in all types of energy transactions and the various legal and regulatory issues that may arise in conjunction with those transactions. She also assists clients in the areas of estate planning and trust administration.

A graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law in 2023, Raine served as senior editor for the Alabama Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Law Review. Raine received third place in the 2023 Nelson Mandela International Negotiations Competition. She is a recipient of the highly regarded CALI Excellence for the Future Award for her work done as a judicial clerk in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court in 2022 and also for her externship with Shipt’s in-house counsel in 2023.
