Tara P. Ellis

Consistent with the regulatory portion of my practice, I have routinely worked with the Mississippi Gaming Commission and the Alcoholic Beverage Control Division of the Mississippi Department of Revenue, primarily relative to licensure and compliance issues. I have also frequently worked with other state and local agencies in assisting my clients to obtain necessary licensure and permits necessary to operate or acquire their businesses.

I strive to be involved in my community, serving on various local boards, such as the Greater Belhaven Neighborhood Foundation and the Belhaven Improvement Association, and engaging with the community as an active member of the Junior League of Jackson. I have held various volunteer positions within my children’s school, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, most recently serving as co-chair of Arts on the Green, St. Andrew’s largest parent fundraiser. I am a graduate of Leadership Mississippi and Leadership Greater Jackson.

I represent a variety of clients, including real estate developers, retailers, financial institutions, privately-held and publicly-held companies, and healthcare entities. In the gaming arena, I represent casino operators and developers, gaming equipment manufacturers and distributors, commercial lenders, and equity investors. I have represented a variety of casino, hotel, and restaurant operators, as well as a trade associations, in alcoholic beverage-related issues.

Because my practice is primarily transactional in nature, I find it thrilling to work with others, both within my firm and outside my firm, both lawyers and non-lawyers, to tackle challenges and find solutions to reach a common goal.
