Meghan is a south-Florida native who has found her home in Atlanta, Georgia and at Balch. When she's not in the office advocating for clients, you can find her at home with her husband and goldendoodle Zoe or at the barn with her horse, Prosecco.

Hometown

Stuart, Florida

Education

Florida State University College of Law, J.D., 2016, summa cum laude
Florida State University, B.A., Political Science, 2013, cum laude

I chose to continue my career at Balch because I saw the camaraderie in the office along with the variety of opportunities for associates to get experience early on in their careers.

MY COLLEAGUES

I admire their approach and unwavering commitment to helping our clients achieve their goals.

BALCH MEMORY

In 2022, I tried a case to a defense verdict with one of our Atlanta partners. I managed the case from the beginning through to the trial. At trial I examined witnesses, argued motions and helped direct case strategy. Balch is unique because not many law firms have opportunities for associates to gain substantive trial experience early on during their careers.

Everyone is really great to work with and I have really wonderful relationships with my colleagues - which makes Balch a special place to work.

WORK FOCUS

My litigation practice includes products liability actions and commercial disputes. I get the opportunity to handle a variety of cases including catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death actions, commercial disputes, fire cause and origin claims and medical negligence. I love that I am able to defend clients in all stages of litigation. Everyday is a chance to continue learning because we are constantly looking at the nuances of the law and how they may impact our clients.

BECOMING A LAWYER

Once I got to law school, I realized how much I enjoyed learning about the law. I’ve been able to put that into practice after law school.

ADVICE For UPCOMING ATTORNEYS

The first year is the biggest learning curve, so try to talk to any colleague you can and learn from what they are doing.

PREP FOR A BIG DAY

I would go my favorite Pilates class in the morning and grab a cup of coffee on my way into the office.

MENTORING

I greatly appreciate Anne Wiggins and the time she's invested in me as my mentor. As a member of the Recruiting Committee, I love passing along the many lessons and insight she's shared with me to the next generation.

Equestrian Life

I started taking riding lessons when I was eight years old. I was hooked and never stopped riding! Riding horses taught me a lot about responsibility and hard work while I was growing up. It’s been a great passion of mine to continue riding as an adult.

BOOK CURRENTLY ON MY NIGHTSTAND

My Kindle! I’m always looking for my next book to read.

Travel Bucket List

Two destinations on my bucket list are Greece and the Amalfi Coast.

Unexpected Day Off

Go to the barn and ride and then get coffee and read a book.

FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD

Pizza.

SUPER POWER I'D LOVE TO HAVE

Mind-reader. I think it would really help in this profession!

Most un-lawyerly thing I’ve ever done

I signed an offer letter to purchase a house before reading it.
