Summer Program

Through our Summer Associates Program, talented law students have the unique opportunity to experience our culture firsthand, sharpening their skills by working alongside respected attorneys and interacting with clients across many industries. At Balch, we always have our sights set on the horizon for our clients, and that’s true for our people, too.

From engaging with clients and meetings to depositions and trials – our summer associates are immediately immersed in challenging and fulfilling client work as part of our team. We customize the experience of our summer associates to support their future practice goals, and tailor their workloads to offer diverse experiences across multiple practice areas and industries – and with a variety of accomplished and personable Balch attorneys who are recognized leaders in their fields.

Throughout the summer, dedicated mentors support your advancement by offering constructive feedback, career advice and encouragement along the way. We also provide training and professional development programming as well as opportunities to engage in networking events, social outings and community service activities. In short, we do everything we can to ensure our summer associates have the tools they need to succeed – and also to enjoy their journey with us. Mentoring & Feedback 

We are committed to providing individual guidance and development programs to set the stage for a successful career. Junior and Senior mentoring programs are a critical part of the summer experience at Balch. Organized gatherings offer opportunities to learn, engage and develop new relationships. We are dedicated to teaching you crucial skills and analytical tactics, and giving you constant feedback to help prepare you for a future success.

Networking

Build relationships with lawyers who are leaders in their respective fields and are committed to supporting the next generation of lawyers. Through creative social outings, community service, cultural experiences, and formal and informal activities, our summer associates enjoy many opportunities to network and build relationships with peers and future Balch colleagues.

Each year, we host a Summer Associate Program for 2L and 1L students in our Atlanta, Birmingham, Gulfport, Jackson, and Montgomery offices. Our class for the 2023 Summer Associate Program is currently full. Please check back in the future about information for our 2024 Summer Associate Program.
