Education & Development

From classroom-style seminars (tailored to specific practices and industries) to core skills instruction and mentoring programs, we create meaningful opportunities for personal and professional development. By joining Balch, you’re kick-starting your career at a firm that is committed to giving you the tools you need to succeed.

Additionally, we encourage our attorneys and staff to participate in continuing legal education courses, pro bono cases, business development initiatives, time management training and more, which fuels your success by keeping you on the cutting edge of the legal industry.

Customize Your Career

“Flexibility” isn’t just an HR buzzword. It’s essential to achieving professional goals and maintaining a healthy work-life balance along the way. At Balch, we encourage you to design a career path that best suits your career aspirations, personal commitments and family priorities.

We understand a full-time schedule isn’t for everyone and that not all attorneys want to become law firm owners. By providing opportunities for alternative career paths, you can create an advancement track that empowers you to achieve your definition of success – both personally and professionally.

Trial Training

One of our signature programs, Trial Training, is a one day, deposition and trial advocacy training that allows you to test your “textbook knowledge” before setting foot in the courtroom. This annual program includes real courtroom experience and an opportunity to learn from litigators across the country, who have broad and diverse backgrounds both within and beyond the legal industry. As you work side by side with these accomplished leaders, you’ll also forge lasting relationships.
