Lessons in Unscrambling an Egg the Federal Trade Commission Way

This article discussed an action brought by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to unwind a consummated hospital merger and the decision of an administrative law judge in favor of the FTC's position. According to the FTC and the administrative law judge, the merger lessened competition in the market for acute care inpatient services in the Chicago area.  The decision to unwind the merger occurred several years after the merger had been formally completed.
