NERC Submits BES Cyber Asset Survey Results

On February 3, 2015, in Docket No. RM13-5, NERC submitted the results of a survey regarding the scope of assets covered by the term “BES Cyber Asset” in the CIP Version 5 Standards. FERC Order No. 791 approved the CIP Version 5 Standards, including the definition of BES Cyber Assets. Because the scope of cyber assets covered by the standards was not immediately clear, the Commission directed NERC to conduct a survey of cyber assets that fall within the definition. NERC’s results are presented in this informational filing.
