NERC Submits Revised “Remedial Action Scheme” Definition

On February 3, 2015, NERC submitted a petition seeking FERC approval of revisions to the definition of “Remedial Action Scheme” in the NERC Glossary of Terms Used in Reliability Standards. The revised definition is intended to clarify what equipment or schemes qualify as a Remedial Action Scheme. NERC also plans to phase out the use of “Special Protection System” in reliability standards and replace it with “Remedial Action Scheme” (currently, the terms are used interchangeably). To begin this process, NERC is seeking Commission approval to update proposed reliability standards to use the new terminology.
