FERC Issues NOPR to Require Access to NERC Databases

On September 17, 2015, in Docket No. RM15-25, FERC issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) to require NERC to provide the Commission and FERC staff with access to NERC's transmission availability data system, generating availability data system, and protection system misoperations databases for U.S. facilities. The purpose of the proposed rule is to allow FERC to more easily assess reliability trends or reliability gaps in order to better evaluate the need for new or modified reliablity standards.
