FERC Issues Notice of Technical Conference Regarding Geomagnetic Disturbance Events

On December 22, 2015, FERC issued a notice in Docket No. RM15-11 of a Commissions staff-led technical conference focusing on issues identified in its rulemaking proceeding regarding the TPL-007-1 standard on geomagnetic disturbance (GMD) Events. FERC’s NOPR proposing to approve TPL-007-1 was issued on May 14, 2015 and several comments were submitted by various entities. FERC’s notice states that the technical conference will facilitate a structured dialogue on GMD-related topics, including but not limited to: (1) the benchmark GMD event(s); (2) vulnerability assessments; and (3) monitoring of related parameters. On December 23, 2015, FERC issued an errata notice correcting the website link for attendees to register for the technical conference.
