FERC Approves Revised Definition of Special Protection System

On June 23, 2016, in Docket No. RD16-5, FERC issued a letter order approving NERC’s proposed revision to the definition of “Special Protection System” in the NERC Glossary of Terms use in Reliability Standards. NERC's May 11, 2016 petition requesting this revision explained that the proposed definition represents an improvement over the existing definition as it completes the transition from the term “Special Protection System” to “Remedial Action Scheme” that was initiated by NERC in 2014.
